What is Apatef® ?
This medicine contains the antibiotic cefotetan which is a member of a group of antibiotics called cephalosporins.

What is Apatef® used for?
Apatef is used for the treatment of infections caused by certain bacteria in many different parts of the body, including the abdomen (body trunk), chest and women's reproductive organs.

It may also be given to prevent infections before, during and after surgery.
However, like other antibiotics, Apatef will not work against colds, flu, or other viral infections.

Apatef works by killing certain harmful bacteria or preventing their growth.

How is Apatef® given?
It is supplied as a liquid for injection into either a vein or into a muscle and is given to you by a medical professional.

You should inform the doctor if you have an allergy to penicillin because you may also be allergic to Apatef.
