What is Marcaine® ?

This medicine contains the local anaesthetic, bupivacaine.

What is Marcaine® used for?

  • Marcaine is used for surgical procedures to block feeling in the part of the body affected (local anaesthesia), so that the patient does not experience pain.

  • Marcaine can also be used for pain control following surgery.

How does Marcaine® work ?

By producing local anaesthesia in that part of the body requiring the surgical procedure or pain control.

How is Marcaine® given ?

Marcaine is injected, as a solution, by a health professional trained in anaesthetic techniques (anaesthetist or anaesthetic nurse).
