Imdur® (isosorbide-5-mononitrate)

What is Imdur® ?

Imdur contains the medicine isosorbide-5-mononitrate, which is a vasodilator that relaxes and widens blood vessels.

What is Imdur® used for?

Imdur is given to prevent angina occurring. This is chest pain caused by not enough oxygen reaching the heart muscle, due to disease of the coronary arteries that supply it.

How does Imdur® work ?

Imdur reduces the amount of blood returning to the heart. This in turn reduces the amount of pumping work that the heart has to do and lowers the heart's need (demand) for oxygen.

How is Imdur® given ?

Imdur is supplied as long-acting tablets called Durules, and should be taken once daily.
