What is Egazil® Durules® ?

Egazil Durules contain the medicine (-)-hyoscyamine, which belongs to a group of medicines that are called anticholinergics (inhibit the action of the neurotransmitter acetylcholine).

What is Egazil® Durules® used for?

Egazil Durules are used for the treatment of a range of gastrointestinal disorders. These include:

  • Symptomatic therapy in epigastralgia (upper abdominal pain)

  • Irritable bowel syndrome (intestinal pain and disturbed defaecation and /or symptoms of bloatedness and distension)

  • Biliary dyskinesia (bile duct spasms)

How does Egazil® Durules® work ?

Egazil Durules contain an anticholinergic agent (inhibits the action of a neurotransmitter called acetylcholine). They work by blocking the contractile effect of acetylcholine on the intestinal smooth muscle and thereby preventing painful spasm of the gut.

How is Egazil® Durules® given ?

Egazil Durules are supplied as sustained-release tablets.
